Job description

​TGRC are looking for a Mid-Level Controls Engineer to join our growing team. You must be a self-motivated independent worker with the ability to multitask between multiple active projects. As a mid-level Controls Engineer, you will have years of experience with developing numerous controls projects from inception to completion: PLC programming, project management, IP networking skills, in-depth knowledge of industrial protocols including DNP3 and Modbus protocols. You will exude exceptional work ethic and commitment to accomplishing goals.

What you'll do:

  • Support all facets of SEL RTAC program development including

  • RTAC programming with IEC 61131-3

  • Develop libraries to support modular site rollout

  • Create DNP/Modbus mappings and communication

  • SCADA development

  • Work hand in hand with Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) partners to expedite RTAC development for implementation and commissioning.

  • Collaborate with the internal Operations Center (NOC) team to drive and customize SCADA system development.

  • Focus on modular design to ensure cost effective and efficient future plant integration.

  • Focus on fixing existing program issues, troubleshoot reported issues, work through bug list, and update code libraries as fixes are rolled out.

  • Assist in maintaining the internal enterprise SCADA platform to monitor, control and dispatch renewable energy assets.

  • Round out SCADA team staff responsible for maintaining all aspects of emerging our internal SCADA platform offering.

  • Mentor junior Controls Engineers and demonstrate high level troubleshooting skills.

  • Travel to troubleshoot RTAC and SCADA and communications equipment when necessary.

  • Troubleshoot field equipment remotely (or on-site if needed) for solar sites including inverters, DC converters, BMSs, meters, relays

  • Provide customer support to EPC and Clean Energy Operations (CEO) teams from startup through lifecycle operations.

What you'll bring:
  • 3+ years of IEC 61131-3 PLC programming experience.

  • 3+ years of experience with Modbus RTU/TCP and DNP3.

  • 1+ years of experience with solar equipment (inverters, trackers, DC converters, BMSs, meters, relays, etc..)

  • Ability to program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs as necessary.

  • Experience with SCADA development and strong project management experience.

  • IP networking experience and the ability to support troubleshooting during non-standard work hours on an as needed basis.
