Job description
The Civil/Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of solar and BESS energy facilities, as well as the review and modification of commercial and utility plan sets for photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) installations. This includes reviewing site plans, geotechnical reports, site surveys, erosion control plans, environmental impact assessments, foundation layouts, BOMs, structural details, material take-offs, and equipment specifications. The role involves close collaboration with customers, engineering teams, and contractors to ensure the smooth transition from design to field construction, ultimately contributing to the successful completion and energization of projects.
Skills:
Deep understanding of civil/structural design principles, engineering standards, and business practices.
Expertise in researching engineering and design challenges, evaluating alternatives, and preparing well-supported recommendations.
Ability to apply engineering theories and principles to assess civil/structural drawings, ensuring designs meet contractual requirements, construction best practices, and budget constraints.
Strong understanding of project management principles and practices.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, AutoCAD 2D, Blue Beam, L-pile, Google Earth, RISA, and other relevant software applications. Knowledge of PLSCADD is a plus.
Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on tasks, and maintain progress with minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:
Preferably a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related engineering program. A degree from a school of engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience, including a combination of trade and professional engineering experience.
Competency in civil/structural system sizing and experience with utility and commercial-scale renewable EPC projects, as well as the analysis of operational project data and performance.
Experience in utility-scale solar/PV projects is highly preferred.
