Job description
A leading company in the renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced commercial lead for utility-scale solar, storage, and digital infrastructure assets. This role will focus on transaction execution, including project and portfolio M&A, asset acquisitions and dispositions, and strategic partnerships. Additionally, the position will play a key role in major project contract negotiations across offtake, procurement, and EPC. The Director of Business Development will report directly to the EVP, Head of Business Development.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction Execution
Identify, evaluate, and execute project and portfolio acquisition and partnership opportunities across various markets and asset classes.
Provide investment recommendations based on strategic alignment, development fundamentals, revenue contracting opportunities, and financial analysis.
Lead transaction execution, including negotiation of term sheets, definitive documentation, due diligence, financial modeling, and internal approval processes.
Commercial Execution
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to negotiate commercial terms for late-stage project assets, including pricing, payment terms, credit support, and performance guarantees.
Optimize project economics and manage execution risks by working on offtake structuring, engineering design, equipment selection, and project financing.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; graduate degrees preferred but not required.
10+ years of professional experience, including at least 5+ years in a similar role focused on utility-scale solar and storage projects.
Proven track record in transaction execution across M&A, offtake, and procurement for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Strong negotiation skills with experience in high-level investment discussions and contract negotiations.
Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
