Job description

​A leading company in the renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced commercial lead for utility-scale solar, storage, and digital infrastructure assets. This role will focus on transaction execution, including project and portfolio M&A, asset acquisitions and dispositions, and strategic partnerships. Additionally, the position will play a key role in major project contract negotiations across offtake, procurement, and EPC. The Director of Business Development will report directly to the EVP, Head of Business Development.

Key Responsibilities:

Transaction Execution

  • Identify, evaluate, and execute project and portfolio acquisition and partnership opportunities across various markets and asset classes.

  • Provide investment recommendations based on strategic alignment, development fundamentals, revenue contracting opportunities, and financial analysis.

  • Lead transaction execution, including negotiation of term sheets, definitive documentation, due diligence, financial modeling, and internal approval processes.

Commercial Execution

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to negotiate commercial terms for late-stage project assets, including pricing, payment terms, credit support, and performance guarantees.

  • Optimize project economics and manage execution risks by working on offtake structuring, engineering design, equipment selection, and project financing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; graduate degrees preferred but not required.

  • 10+ years of professional experience, including at least 5+ years in a similar role focused on utility-scale solar and storage projects.

  • Proven track record in transaction execution across M&A, offtake, and procurement for utility-scale renewable energy projects.

  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in high-level investment discussions and contract negotiations.

  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
