Project Engineer – Utility Scale Solar - Project sites located on the EAST COAST
Job Overview:
The Project Engineer for Utility Scale Solar will play a critical role in the planning, design, coordination, and execution of large-scale solar energy projects. This role is responsible for ensuring that all engineering activities are conducted efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, timelines, and budgets. The Project Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, field teams, and external stakeholders, to ensure the successful delivery of utility-scale solar installations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Coordination:
Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, and resource allocations for utility-scale solar projects.
Design Support & Implementation:
Work with design teams to review and refine solar system designs, including electrical, structural, and mechanical components, ensuring they meet all technical specifications and industry standards.
Construction Oversight:
Monitor and coordinate day-to-day construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as a point of contact between internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure seamless communication and project execution.
Budget & Schedule Management:
Track project progress, including quantities, costs, and schedule adherence. Assist in preparing cost reports and forecasts, and take action to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
Submittals & Documentation:
Prepare and review submittals, technical reports, drawings, and other documentation as required for the successful completion of projects.
Change Management:
Assist in identifying, reviewing, and negotiating changes to scope, design, or schedule. Ensure proper documentation of all changes to project scope and cost.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and standards during the construction and installation of solar systems. Support the identification and resolution of potential safety hazards.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct field inspections and quality audits to verify compliance with engineering designs and project specifications.
Vendor & Subcontractor Management:
Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services, negotiating terms and overseeing performance.
Post-Construction Support:
Assist in project close-out, including final inspections, testing, and commissioning of solar systems.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in project engineering, with a strong preference for experience in utility-scale solar projects.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, etc.) and engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, etc.).
Knowledge of Solar Systems:
Familiarity with utility-scale solar design, construction, and commissioning processes.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and external partners.
Problem-Solving Ability:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges during project execution.
Organizational Skills:
Ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to Travel:
Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
