Job description
Are you an experienced procurement specialist with a background in renewables, manufacturing or engineering?
A leading UK Green Energy Energy Company, which helps clients reach net zero emissions across their heat, power, and mobility requirements is seeking to appoint an experienced procurement specialist to join its growing business.
We are looking for an ambitious Senior Technical Buyer who will be responsible for procuring high value goods and services. The strategic role will be central to the purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure that the companies operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. The role is multifaceted and requires an individual who can quickly distil technical, commercial, and financial requirements to support their journey to decarbonisation through the sale of hydrogen. The role will report into Director of Operations.
The key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Build and maintain a preferred supplier framework ensuring that all suppliers deliver to time, cost and quality through periodic audits and supply chain management techniques.
Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets. Supporting departs across the business including Operations, Project Development and Engineering,
Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations,
Develop ideas, strategies and processes to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement,
Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods,
Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities,
Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships across the business, acting as the source of truth for best practice, from selection, through negotiation to contract management,
Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures,
Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers,
Constantly research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible, without compromising quality,
Key Requirements and Skills
Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, HNC, City & Guilds Licentiateship, BTec Higher Professional Diploma, or equivalent NVQ Level 4 qualifications,
Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or progress towards,
Proven purchasing experience, greater than 5 years, preferably within an energy or manufacturing environment,
Contract management and supplier experience,
Project management experience,
Ability to work under their own initiative, a self-starter,
Good relationship management and interpersonal skills for establishing trust and building relationships with suppliers,
Tender process experience – nice to have but not essential,
Previous leadership experience – nice to have but not essential. There will be the opportunity to grow the team and therefore management experience is desired.
