Logistics Manager

Location: Kuruson/Impofu, South Africa

Our client is one of the world’s leading OEMs with over 30 years of experience in manufacturing highly efficient wind turbines for global onshore markets. The main activities of a material controller is to track all deliveries of spare parts from CWH to all wind farms, arrange the return of parts back to Germany, ensure safe storage of spare parts on wind farms and support all logistical matters in case of major work on site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:

  • Be responsible for all logistical matters in the operations department including planning, coordinating & sourcing suppliers

  • Support service team with respect to safety, costs, time, schedule and quality in logistics

  • Be responsible for supporting Materials Planner in creating purchase orders, posting goods receipts, checking stock availability and other SAP-related

  • Monitor and track sea & air freight shipments for all sites

  • Interface between clearing agent service department

  • Attend spare parts weekly meetings and service department ops meetings

  • Support Service Coordinator & Material Manager in organizing the return of defective parts for repairs and investigation to DE/ES

  • Responsible for all site lifting equipment and arranging maintenance/ servicing with the HSE Manager

  • Responsible for the arrangement of stores on all sites and ensuring HSE compliant in collaboration with Site Supervisors and Site Admin

  • Keeping accurate records of all purchase orders and deliveries on site in collaboration with Site Supervisors and Site Admin

  • Preparing tools register for all sites and ensure maintenance of tools are done as per manufacture requirements

  • Responsible for all site stock-taking (TBC – quarterly or bi-annually

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Logistics Technician Part
  • Vessel discharging. Report and supervise the discharges of components from the vessel to the port´s unloading area.

  • Monitoring and control of Layout designed for the project in port.

  • Coordination and monitoring of the cargo/loading plan (deliveries to the wind farm), in communication with the logistics leader. Fill up and update load tracking.

  • Control of transport company:

  • Registration of the transport fleet in port: arrivals, loads and departures, (availability of means). Daily registration of work or activities file.

  • Sign up for waybills and delivery notes on behalf of the company.

  • Indicate stoppage warnings due to a lack of trucks or delayed arrivals at the port that affect the loading plan in coordination with Windfarm.

  • Weekly report (alerts, indicators).

  • Analysis of the Project to design strategy (Custom classification, temporary imports, custom deposits…) checking the custom regulation to operate in the most beneficial procedure for the Company, optimizing custom clearance period and cost.

  • Follow up with local staff on any authorization or registration in any local entity at the company or article level.

  • Creating procedures and flow of the process.

  • Custom clearance for every delivery:

  • Documentation review

  • Documentation management in customs

  • Acting on behalf of the company in custom notifications.

  • Review import duties and follow payment.

  • Issuing purchase orders in the system to the custom broker.

  • Receiving custom broker invoices.

  • Coordinate with the transport Company once the material is released from Customs.

  • Support on custom regulations queries.

  • Reverse logistics, control of temporary imports/exports (Quantity and dates)

  • Documentary control of each delivery.

  • Updating on any change in regulation that might affect our products.

  • Creating a report for the custom clearances (Arrival Day, custom clearance starts, incidences, tax payments, release, leaving port…)

  • Weekly Project follow-up with the logistic technician.

  • Support on the movements in port on the main components.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Relevant Degree/Diploma in Logistics or Inventory management

  • Good English language skills (read, write and speak fluently)

  • Driving License

  • SAP_ERP

  • Office suite professional and other Suites are a plus

  • Technical background in materials and logistics.

  • AT least 2 years of professional experience in logistics management

  • Health and safety awareness.
