Job description

​I am looking for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to join a leading business in advancing clean hydrogen production to support hydrogen-powered transportation across the UK.

Our client develop renewable energy-linked electrolysis plants, managing a project pipeline of 300MW. The company oversees the complete lifecycle of hydrogen projects, from planning to operation.

Role Overview:

This position is based at one of Europe’s largest green hydrogen refueling stations in the West Midlands. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance & Documentation:

    Create and maintain necessary maintenance documents (WOC, RAMS) for safe operation, calibration, and repair of control systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic).

  • Inspections & Repairs:

    Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on LV electrical plant and control equipment.

  • System Management:

    Maintain records and schematics for control systems using the CMMS; understand P&IDs, loop diagrams, and wiring schematics.

  • Improvements & Modifications:

    Recommend improvements to plant apparatus as needed.

  • Supplier Coordination:

    Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure compliance with company procedures.

  • Team Support:

    Work with operations and maintenance teams to meet collective goals.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols, keeping work areas organized and safe.

Requirements:

  • Ideally will have experience as a technician in the industrial gases industry.

  • Skilled in performing planned preventive maintenance following OEM guidelines.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents, including P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and control logic flow diagrams.

  • Experienced in creating method statements, conducting risk assessments, and working within permit-to-work systems.
